Hands-On Creation is a nonprofit organization equipping Christian homeschool students through hands-on science education, fostering exploration, experimentation, and a deeper understanding of God’s creation.

INNOVATION

Hands-On Creation bridges the gap between traditional laboratory science and home education. We bring professional-grade lab tools—microscopes, heat plates, pipettes, and safety gear—directly to homeschool settings, making authentic scientific inquiry accessible and affordable.

Unlike online or textbook-only programs, Hands-On Creation offers in-person labs, guided inquiry, and Biblical integration, combining academic rigor, hands-on experience, and spiritual formation in a single model. By enabling teachers and host families to borrow equipment, the program multiplies access and empowers community-led instruction, creating a sustainable, scalable approach to science education.

This picture pretty much sums up what our dining room has looked like lately 😂📚🧪

Hubby is certainly happy that some of these books and notebooks are going away tomorrow… and the rest will slowly make their way to their new homes over the next few days because apparently we need our dining table back. 😂😂

But look at this stack!!! 🥹❤️ General Science, Chemistry, and Anatomy & Physiology materials getting ready for our Hands-On Creation students. So much planning, organizing, printing, purchasing, and preparing has gone into getting everything ready for this school year, and seeing it all together makes my heart so happy.

🧪⚛️ Chemistry is meant to be experienced, not just memorized!

We’re so excited to add molecular model kits to our Hands-On Creation Chemistry program! Students will be able to build molecules, visualize 3D structures, model reactions, and turn abstract concepts into something they can actually see and touch. ❤️

This is personal for me. I entered college at 17, directly into the Natural Sciences Department as part of “The 100”—the top 100 applicants admitted directly into the department. I had never taken Chemistry in high school, so I jumped straight into college Chemistry! 😅 Molecular models later became a lifesaver for this very hands-on girl through Chemistry and Organic Chemistry.

Now I get to put those tools into the hands of our students! 🥹🔬

Our younger students will be learning through a collaborative model with rotating parents helping teach and lead the elementary class, while three facilitators will be leading our middle and high school laboratory classes.

VELA Stewardship Scholarship Recipient Announced

It is my joy to announce the recipient of the 2026–2027 Hands-On Creation VELA Stewardship Scholarship:

Zoie R.

This scholarship is awarded to a high school science student who demonstrates academic excellence, faithful stewardship of shared laboratory resources, and a commitment to continued growth in scientific learning.

This year’s recipient stood out in every area. Zoie earned the highest grade in the course, maintaining a consistent A+ average throughout the year. Her lab reports demonstrated exceptional attention to detail, scientific thinking, and careful observation. She also achieved perfect attendance and showed remarkable dedication to learning.

What made Zoie especially deserving of this award was her servant-hearted attitude. After every single lab day, she stayed behind to help clean, organize, and reset the classroom. Her willingness to serve others and care for the resources entrusted to our program reflects the very heart of stewardship.

Through the generosity of the VELA Education Fund and the Hands-On Creation Science Lending Program, Zoie will receive complimentary rental of textbooks and laboratory equipment for the upcoming academic year.

There is not much listed yet because this directory needs our community’s help to grow. If you know of a Christian homeschool co-op or organization in Massachusetts, please visit the page and click “Submit a Co-op” to share the information with us.

This is a semi-automated system: once information is submitted, we can review it and then use it to populate both the searchable directory and the interactive map.

Many existing lists are outdated or incomplete, so my hope is to build something searchable, helpful, and easier to keep current for families looking for Christian homeschool community.

“What about vestigial organs or junk DNA? Doesn’t that prove evolution?”

From a creationist perspective, not at all. Calling something “vestigial” does not prove it has no purpose. Over and over again, parts of the body once labeled useless have later been shown to have real function.

The appendix is one example. Research has described it as rich in lymphoid tissue and connected it with immune activity, and review literature has also discussed its role as a possible reservoir for beneficial gut bacteria. The same goes for so-called “junk DNA.” Large genomics efforts such as ENCODE reported widespread biochemical activity across the genome and have continued building catalogs of regulatory and other functional elements beyond protein-coding genes.

That does not mean every noncoding region already has a fully proven function, but it does challenge the older habit of dismissing vast stretches of DNA as useless.

For those of us who believe in creation, this fits beautifully with what we would expect from an intelligent Designer. Our lack of understanding is not the same as lack of purpose. Sometimes science catches up and discovers that what was once mocked as useless was actually part of God’s wise design all along.

Today’s frog dissection gave our students a powerful reminder that anatomy is not just about identifying organs—it is about observing the wisdom built into living things. 🐸🔬

A frog may seem like a simple creature from the outside, but inside, students saw organized systems working together with purpose: the heart, lungs, liver, stomach, intestines, muscles, and more. Each structure had a role, and each role pointed to the incredible coordination required for life.

From a creationist perspective, we do not look at shared body systems across animals and immediately assume they came from a common ancestor. We see something deeper: a consistent Creator who uses order, patterns, and intentional design throughout His creation.

The frog’s ability to live in both water and on land, its unique life cycle, and its carefully arranged internal anatomy all gave students a glimpse of God’s creativity and wisdom.

“O Lord, how manifold are Your works! In wisdom You have made them all. The earth is full of Your possessions.”

The more we study creation, the more we stand in awe of the Creator. Science reveals God.

CHET In-Person Science Lab Opportunities
2026–2027 School Year

Hands-On Creation is offering weekly, hands-on science labs at CHET for homeschool students, rooted in a Christian worldview.

Our goal is to help students stay engaged, complete science requirements with confidence, and grow in love and respect for God’s creation. We believe science reveals God through the order, design, beauty, and complexity of His creation.

Courses Offered

Middle School General Science
Grades 7–8
Advanced 6th graders and students needing a slower 9th-grade pace are welcome.
Curriculum: Apologia General Science
Facilitator: David Johnson

High School Chemistry
Grades 9–12
Prerequisite: Algebra 1
Recommended: Algebra 2 and Biology or Physical Science
Curriculum: Apologia Chemistry
Facilitator: Jessenia Laguna-Torres

Both courses include 27 weekly, 90-minute labs focused on experiments, demonstrations, lab safety, observations, data collection, and lab notebook work. Reading, assignments, review, and tests are completed at home.

Participation Levels

Lab-Only — weekly labs; parents oversee grading at home.
Graded — assigned work, testing, and final course grade.
Honors — higher rigor, test proctoring, and additional assignments.

All students receive access to Google Classroom for resources, weekly support, and communication.

“If the Earth is young, how do you explain radiometric dating showing millions of years?”

From a creationist perspective, radiometric dating is not as simple as many people assume. These methods rely on several starting assumptions, including the original amount of parent and daughter isotopes, whether the sample remained a closed system without contamination, and whether decay rates have always stayed constant. If those assumptions are incorrect, the final age estimate can also be incorrect.

Creationists also point out that there have been cases where rocks from known recent events, such as lava flows, were assigned ages of millions of years. In addition, catastrophic events like volcanic activity or the global Flood could have affected isotope ratios in ways that make age estimates appear much older than they really are.

Another important point is that different radiometric methods do not always give the same age for the same material. That reminds us that these methods are not direct measurements of age, but interpretations based on assumptions.

This is an important teaching point for students: if the assumptions are wrong, the conclusions can be wrong too.

“If God created everything, why do we see genetic similarities between species?”

From a creationist perspective, similar DNA does not automatically prove common ancestry. It can also point to a common Designer. Just as an engineer may reuse strong and effective patterns in different inventions, God may use efficient and purposeful designs across living things.

We can see this idea not only in genetics, but also in anatomy. Animals may have similar bone structures, such as arms, wings, and fins, yet those same patterns serve very different functions. That points many creationists to intentional design rather than random mutation.

It is also worth remembering that scientific interpretations can change over time. Even widely repeated claims about genetic similarity percentages have been revised as more data becomes available. For creationists, similarities in living things are not evidence against God’s design, but a reflection of His wisdom, order, and creativity in creation.
